I think this was painted from the imagination rather than from observation, because the viewpoint is floating somewhere above the viaduct. We seem to see both the front of the engine, and the back of it where the fire is being stoked. One thing that creates the sense of speed is the way the receding lines of the sides of the viaduct take you rapidly back into space, and this makes the train seem to move forwards.

De esta manera comprendemos el paso importante que dio este artista para la llegada de las inevitables vanguardias. Pero deben observarse todos los anteriores a esta fecha. Es la única manera de comprender que el arte realizó un camino seguro y sin incertidumbres.

Hay Wain is he first place of Grand Master's scene I have ever visited, It was in 1977 and the sacene is changed of course. The little pond is still there but trees are all over grown and some are cut down. Coinstable won the gold medal in France as British artist. He is good in realism. Very patient artist and methodical and techinically clever, also very careful in depicting any land scape. His sketches are more like impressionism. Many people like his sketches better.

No me canso de observar esta obra. Más la observo más me convenzo de que pintó el caos que produciría la irrupción de la era industrial y tecnológica. Tal vez pintó el abismo, que se acerca a nosotros, amenazador, de forma casual.
